Merapi Stat November 11,10

Based on the letter issued by the Geological Department, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the status of Merapi volcano is currently in level 4 (alert) with a safe distance of 20 km radius.

Map Nov 10,10

The results of the survey on November 10, 2010 finally produced a map of the existing location  refugees post there. Please download, share and utilized to the maximum extent possible. There is update of some evacuation post that did'nt exist in previous map.

About KLMB

Environment and Disaster Mitigation Clinic is a unit of educational activities, research and service to society, especially related to environmental management and disaster mitigation, which are determined by decision of the dean of the Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University  UGM/GE/3794/Kep./UM.10/10 dan UGM/GE/3794/Kep./UM.10/10. This unit has several objectives, which is:
1. Serving information environmental problems and disasters in the region.
 2. Provide assistance and consultation in environmental management
    
and disaster.
 3. Conduct training, recovery and repair functions of the area
    
due to environmental degradation and disaster. 
4. Serving the clinic environment and disaster mitigation to the affected area
    
disaster.
According to the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University, KLMB has a structure of work under the direct coordination of the Dean of the Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University, with a formation consisting of : coordinator, deputy coordinator, secretary, treasurer, divisional activities, and the sections in accordance with existing needs and dynamics. Volunteers in Action

In preparing the data needs of disaster evacuation barracks Mount Merapi, a division of GIS and Database sends 16 volunteers spread around the refugee posts in Yogyakarta. These volunteers will record the needs of every post evacuation.
Based on the monitoring division of GIS and Database by Jalin Merapi (frequency 149 070 MHz) the circumstances and needs of logistics in every post has been fulfilled, even there are some posts that have excess supply logistics (eg, post evacuation std. Maguwoharjo). Seeing this condition, this volunteer team decided to concentrate more volunteers are needed to record the post-displacement of existing posts. Documenting that volunteers are needed include the quantity and specifications of volunteer skills needed in each post evacuation.

Until now we realize there are many posts that have not been recorded because there are many number of posts appear dynamically. If there are posts that have not been listed, please inform us. In the meantime, has been collected data from field checks until the evening of November 6, 2010.

There are data about volunteers needs, logistics needs, and contact person at refugee camp. Hopefully can be utilized to the maximum extent possible.

Merapi 06 Nov 10

During these evolving issues concerning the activities of Mount Merapi create confusion. Not only the people around Merapi belt panic because of the confusion of the issues that develop. Yogyakarta, known as the city of students, students who come in this city come from various parts of the archipelago. Parents of these students felt panicked by obscurity information about Mount Merapi. Issues regarding the safe distance is the most frequently debated issue. Here we explain the status of Mount Merapi activities in which there is info on safe distance issued by the Geological Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia as of 06 November 2010.
